Our safety standards extend from our offices to the most remote dive sites in Raja Ampat.
- Vessel & Partner Vetting: Every liveaboard and resort in our portfolio undergoes a rigorous safety audit as detailed in Our Methodology. This includes inspection of SOLAS-grade safety equipment, vessel maintenance records, and crew certifications.
- Dive Safety Standards: We exceed industry norms. All dives are planned with conservative profiles, and led by PADI/SSI certified instructors or dive masters. All partner vessels are equipped with:

Safety & Compliance
The whisper of turquoise water against the hull of your private vessel, a prelude to the vibrant underwater world of Raja Ampat, is accompanied by an unseen layer of meticulous care. This commitment extends beyond mere compliance, embedding safety, environmental respect, and professional excellence into every moment of your luxury diving adventure.
Uncompromising dive safety and professional expertise
At the heart of every extraordinary dive experience lies an unwavering commitment to safety. Our Raja Ampat diving packages are curated with this principle paramount, ensuring that every descent into the archipelago’s pristine waters is as secure as it is breathtaking. We proudly operate as a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort, a coveted designation that signifies our adherence to the highest global standards for diver training, safety, and environmental stewardship. This certification isn’t just a badge; it reflects a rigorous operational framework that governs everything from equipment maintenance to emergency procedures. Our dive centers are regularly audited by PADI to ensure continuous compliance, providing you with the ultimate peace of mind as you explore one of the planet’s most biodiverse marine ecosystems.
Our team of dive professionals comprises highly qualified and experienced individuals, each holding certifications from internationally recognized agencies such as PADI and SSI. Every dive guide and instructor possesses a minimum PADI Divemaster certification, with many holding Instructor-level ratings, ensuring profound expertise and a deep understanding of local conditions. We maintain exceptionally low diver-to-guide ratios, typically no more than 1:4 for open water dives and often even smaller for advanced or specialized excursions. This personalized attention not only enhances your safety but also enriches your underwater experience, allowing for tailored guidance and a more intimate encounter with the marine life. Continuous professional development, including regular refresher courses in rescue techniques and first aid, ensures our team remains at the vanguard of dive safety practices.
The equipment you use is a critical component of dive safety, and we leave no stone unturned in its maintenance. All our diving gear, from regulators and BCDs to tanks and compressors, undergoes rigorous annual servicing by certified technicians, far exceeding industry recommendations. Daily pre-dive checks are meticulously performed by our staff, ensuring every piece of equipment is in optimal working order before it enters the water. Furthermore, every dive vessel is equipped with comprehensive first aid kits, emergency oxygen, and communication devices, forming an immediate response network. Dive briefings are thorough, covering not just the dive site specifics but also local conditions, marine life etiquette, and precise emergency protocols, empowering every diver with the knowledge needed for a safe and enjoyable exploration.
Meticulous vessel integrity and crew preparedness
Your journey through Raja Ampat’s labyrinthine islands is undertaken aboard vessels that embody both luxury and an uncompromising standard of maritime safety. Our fleet, ranging from comfortable day boats to opulent liveaboards, is maintained to exacting international specifications, ensuring not just your comfort but, crucially, your security on the open water. Each vessel is registered and operates under the full authority of Indonesian maritime law, undergoing regular inspections by port authorities. This rigorous oversight covers everything from structural integrity and engine performance to navigation systems and safety equipment, guaranteeing that your floating sanctuary is always in peak condition and ready for the unique challenges of the archipelago’s waters.
The seaworthiness of our vessels is further ensured through a comprehensive maintenance schedule that includes routine dry-docking every 12 to 18 months. During these periods, hulls are inspected for integrity, engines are fully overhauled, and all onboard systems—electrical, plumbing, and mechanical—are meticulously checked and updated. This proactive approach prevents issues before they arise, providing a robust foundation for your journey. Beyond the vessels themselves, our captains are certified Indonesian Master Mariners, possessing extensive experience navigating the specific currents and channels of Raja Ampat. Their local knowledge, combined with formal certifications, ensures expert handling of the vessel in all conditions, from calm seas to unexpected squalls, prioritizing passenger safety above all else.
Complementing our certified captains, every crew member on board is trained in essential maritime safety protocols, including basic first aid, fire prevention, and emergency evacuation procedures. Our vessels are outfitted with state-of-the-art navigation technology, including GPS, radar, and depth sounders, providing real-time data for precise positioning and route planning. Communication systems are equally robust, featuring VHF radios for local contact and satellite phones for reliable long-distance communication, ensuring we are always connected to shore and emergency services. Furthermore, each vessel carries a full complement of safety gear: SOLAS-approved life rafts, individual life jackets for every passenger and crew member, comprehensive fire suppression systems, and emergency flares, all regularly inspected and maintained to be ready for immediate deployment.
Environmental stewardship and robust emergency protocols
The unparalleled beauty of Raja Ampat demands an equally unparalleled commitment to environmental stewardship. As a responsible luxury tourism operator, we recognize our profound obligation to protect this irreplaceable ecosystem, often referred to as the “Amazon of the Ocean.” Our operations are in strict compliance with the regulations set forth by the Raja Ampat Marine Protected Area (MPA) authority, an area spanning over 4.6 million hectares. This includes adherence to strict guidelines on waste management, ensuring no refuse enters the ocean, and employing reef-safe practices such as designated mooring buoys to prevent anchor damage to delicate coral structures. We actively educate our guests on responsible diving and snorkeling etiquette, emphasizing no-touch policies and maintaining respectful distances from marine life, fostering a culture of conservation among all who travel with us.
Beyond compliance, we are dedicated contributors to the ongoing preservation efforts within Raja Ampat. A portion of every guest’s journey fee directly supports the local conservation fund, which finances patrols, community education programs, and scientific research vital for the region’s ecological health. We also partner with local initiatives that promote sustainable tourism and empower local communities, ensuring that the benefits of tourism are shared and contribute to long-term environmental protection. Our commitment extends to our daily operations, utilizing eco-friendly products where possible and striving to minimize our carbon footprint, reflecting our belief that true luxury travel is inherently sustainable and respectful of its surroundings. To learn more about the incredible biodiversity and conservation efforts in the region, we encourage you to explore resources like the Raja Ampat Islands Wikipedia page.
Despite meticulous planning, unforeseen circumstances can arise, and our emergency preparedness is as robust as our preventative measures. We have comprehensive Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) tailored for various scenarios, from diving incidents to medical emergencies on board. All our dive and boat staff are extensively trained in advanced first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration, with regular drills to ensure swift and coordinated responses. Our vessels are equipped with fully stocked medical kits, designed to handle a range of injuries and illnesses. While Raja Ampat is undeniably remote, we have established clear protocols for medical evacuations, working closely with local clinics and coordinating with larger medical facilities in cities like Sorong for more severe cases. We maintain communication channels to facilitate rapid transport should it ever be necessary, emphasizing that while prevention is our primary focus, readiness for any eventuality is our ultimate safeguard.
