Sustainability & Community Impact
At Raja Ampat Diving Package, we believe that luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive; they are intrinsically linked. Our privilege of operating in the world’s most biodiverse marine ecosystem comes with a profound responsibility to protect it for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability is not an afterthought—it is a core pillar of our business model, influencing every decision we make, from the partners we select to the way we design our journeys. This is our pledge to the environment and the people of Raja Ampat.
Environmental Stewardship
Our environmental policies are strict, measurable, and actively enforced across all our operations and those of our partners.
- Carbon Offsetting: We are committed to mitigating the carbon footprint of travel. We partner with a VERRA-certified Indonesian organization to calculate the emissions from our clients’ domestic flights (to/from Sorong) and liveaboard fuel consumption. We then invest in certified carbon offset projects, such as reforestation in Kalimantan and renewable energy projects in Java, to render every trip carbon-neutral.
- Zero Single-Use Plastics: We enforce a strict ban on single-use plastics on all trips we organize. Guests are provided with reusable stainless steel water bottles and tote bags. Our partners use filtered water dispensers and have eliminated plastic straws, bags, and small toiletry bottles.
- Marine Conservation Funding: A percentage of the revenue from every Raja Ampat diving package booked is donated directly to local conservation initiatives. Our primary beneficiaries are the Raja Ampat Marine Park Authority, which funds ranger patrols, and the Misool Foundation, which manages a critical No-Take Zone.
- Reef-Safe Practices: We educate all guests on responsible diving etiquette and provide complimentary reef-safe sunscreen. Our partner dive guides are trained to enforce a strict no-touch policy on all marine life and corals.
Community Empowerment & Social Responsibility
Our goal is to ensure that tourism provides tangible, long-term benefits to the local communities of West Papua.
- Local Employment & Training: We contractually require our liveaboard and resort partners to maintain a workforce of at least 85% Indonesian nationals, with a strong, mandated preference for hiring and training individuals from local Papuan villages like Arborek, Sawinggrai, and Waisai.
- Supporting Local Enterprises: We actively integrate local businesses into our supply chain. This includes purchasing fresh produce from local markets in Waisai, commissioning local craftsmen to create guest amenities (like hand-carved Manta Ray statues), and arranging respectful, culturally-sensitive village visits where guests can purchase traditional crafts like *noken* bags directly from artisans.
- Educational Initiatives: Through the Juara Holding Group’s corporate social responsibility program, we contribute to funding for school supplies and English language programs for children in communities adjacent to our primary operational areas.
- Cultural Preservation: We work with local elders and community leaders to ensure our tourism activities respect traditional customs (*adat*) and sacred sites. We provide comprehensive cultural briefings to all our guests.
Our commitment to sustainability is an ongoing journey of improvement and collaboration. We believe that by setting the highest standards, we can not only provide an unforgettable luxury experience but also play a vital role in the preservation of Raja Ampat’s natural and cultural heritage.

Safeguarding the ocean’s masterpiece: marine conservation
Beyond mitigating our carbon footprint, our commitment delves deep into the vibrant blue heart of Raja Ampat itself. This archipelago, a jewel within the Coral Triangle, is globally recognized as the epicenter of marine biodiversity, home to an astonishing 75% of the world’s known coral species and over 1,500 species of reef fish – a concentration unparalleled anywhere else on Earth. Preserving this irreplaceable natural heritage for future generations is not merely an aspiration; it is the fundamental purpose underpinning every Raja Ampat diving package we meticulously craft.
